Erdbeben Neapel 2015

The Devastating 2015 Nepal Earthquake: A Tragedy of Nature

A Seismic Event that Shook a Nation

Nepal's Worst Earthquake in Over 80 Years

On April 25, 2015, central Nepal was struck by a devastating earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale. The earthquake, known as the Gorkha earthquake, had a profound impact on the country, claiming the lives of 8,962 people and injuring over 21,952.

The earthquake was a result of the convergence of the Eurasian and Indian tectonic plates. The collision between these plates caused the subduction of the Indian plate beneath the Eurasian plate, creating immense pressure that eventually led to the rupture of the Earth's crust.

The earthquake's epicenter was located near the town of Gorkha, which lies approximately 80 kilometers northwest of the capital city, Kathmandu. The earthquake was felt across Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and parts of China.

The earthquake triggered numerous landslides and avalanches that caused further damage and loss of life. The destruction was widespread, with thousands of buildings collapsed, including many historical and cultural landmarks.

The Nepal earthquake of 2015 was a tragic event that left a deep scar on the nation. The government and international aid organizations worked together to provide relief to the survivors and rebuild the damaged areas.
